FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Kentucky Secretary of State announced on Friday that voter registration was strong following last month’s General Election, as November saw more than 17,000 new voters added to the rolls.

Adams reported that 17,056 Kentuckians have registered to vote since the reopening of voter rolls following the November 5 election. This includes 2,470 Kentuckians who submitted registrations from October 11 to 31, while the rolls were closed for the election.

“Even post-election, Kentuckians remain interested in voting,” Adams stated after analyzing the registration data.

During that same period, 9,901 voters were removed from the rolls, most of whom were deceased (6,924). There were 349 duplicate registrations, 1,431 people moved out of state, 1,015 had felony convictions, 125 had been adjudged mentally incompetent and 57 others voluntarily de-registered.

Republican registrants now account for 47 percent of the electorate, with 1,669,184 voters. Republican registration rose by 10,096 voters, a 0.61 percent increase. Democratic registrants make up 42 percent of the electorate, with 1,502,837 voters. Democratic registration dipped by 4,987 voters, a 0.33 percent decrease. There are also 383,270 voters registered under other political parties, 11 percent of the electorate. “Other” registration grew by 2,839 voters, a 0.75 percent increase.

Among the races that were on the November General Election ballot this year were President and Vice-President of the United States, all six of Kentucky’s U.S. House seats, the odd-numbered districts in the Kentucky Senate, all 100 Kentucky House seats, some Commonwealth’s Attorneys, one Kentucky Supreme Court seat (the district covering central Kentucky), one position on the Kentucky Court of Appeals in Western Kentucky, one district judge’s race and two proposed constitutional amendments.

There will be no regular primary or general elections in Kentucky during 2025. However, there could be special elections for vacant elected offices or wet/dry votes.
