Criminal Patrol Team Targets Criminals in Jefferson County

Three arrests

Jefferson County-On Friday, November 2, 2018, the Indiana State Police-Versailles Criminal Patrol Team conducted multiple criminal investigations near Dupont, Indiana leading to multiple arrests.

The investigation began on Thursday, November 1st when the Indiana State Police assisted the Madison Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department in attempting to locate Bobby Kennedy, who was wanted for making threats towards an area school. Kennedy was located in Madison, Indiana on that day. However he fled from officers and eluded capture.

On Friday, November 2nd, Kennedy was located in Dupont, Indiana where he was eventually taken into custody. While conducting a follow up investigation, troopers went to a residence at 10548 Taylor Street in Dupont. While at the residence, troopers observed items commonly associated with drug use. Troopers applied for and received a search warrant for the residence. During the execution of the search warrant, methamphetamine, syringes, drug paraphernalia, and firearms were located inside the residence.

 

As a result of that investigation, the homeowners Levi B. Young, age 34, and Emily L. Marthin, age 29, were arrested on various charges. Young was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, and maintaining a common nuisance. Marthin was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance. They were both incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail pending their initial court appearances.

While in the area, troopers observed a known wanted person, Johnny Alvarez, driving a Cadillac passenger vehicle. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle. Alvarez fled from the officers in the vehicle. The vehicle soon became disabled in a field and came to a stop. Alvarez then fled on foot from the pursuing troopers. An Indiana State Police K-9 pursued Alvarez and apprehended him. Alvarez was given medical attention before being incarcerated in the Jennings County Jail on charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement, and counterfeiting. He was also wanted on warrants out of Jefferson County on numerous charges. He was incarcerated pending his initial appearance in court.

The Indiana State Police continues to pursue those individuals who choose to deal and use illegal drugs and engage in other criminal activity in our communities.
