Historic Madison, Inc. honored volunteers at its annual Volunteer Recognition Night for the first time in four years at the Shrewsbury-Windle House on January 24.

Over thirty attendees gathered as President and Executive Director John Staicer thanked Historic Madison’s volunteers.  “Historic Madison, Inc. celebrates all its volunteers for their help in making 2022 a great year.  HMI would not be able to fulfill its mission without the help of our great group of volunteers.” HMI volunteers gave more than 1000 hours of service equaling more than $30,000 in impact!

This year HMI honored its volunteers with two awards.  The HMI Board Member of the Year is  Lisa Cutshall for her support and service to HMI.  All HMI board members volunteer their time to support the organization and its mission. Beyond board members, HMI has an active group of volunteers who focus on tours and programs with the public. Boone Lodge was recognized for his work doing just that as the HMI Volunteer of the Year. Boone is an experience maker who provided tours at two sites for groups of all ages and sizes.

Are you interested in being an experience maker in Madison? If so we have a place for you! Volunteer opportunities are available for those interested in giving tours, doing research, assisting with digitization, exploring the HMI collections, or helping in the office. HMI offers many opportunities from weekdays to weekends throughout the year. Help HMI continue to tell the stories of Madison to visitors of all ages by volunteering in 2023!
