Clark County Man Arrested After Threatening to Kill Police

The investigation reported that Bruce called Jefferson County Central Dispatch threatening to kill officers.

(Madison, Ind.) – On Thursday, April 30 Madison Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Clark County man on the charges of a level 6 felony of intimidation of a law enforcement officer.

James Patrick Bruce, 36, was arrested after an investigation led by Madison Police Senior Patrolman Aaron Watson. The investigation reported that Bruce called Jefferson County Central Dispatch threatening to kill officers.

In the recorded conversation, Bruce reportedly threatened to kill or injure Madison Police Chief John Wallace and Special Deputy/ School Resource Officer Tim Armstrong.

Bruce had also reportedly contacted the Carrollton Kentucky Police Department threatening to kill them as well.

Officers attempted to locate Bruce at his last known location, Hillside Inn, however, he left prior to the arrival of officers.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Madison Police Patrolman Zackery Nicholson, spotted Bruce walking near the intersection of Second and West Streets.

Bruce was found to be in possession of an axe when arrested.

Bruce is now being held at the Jefferson County Jail where he awaits his initial court appearance on two levels 6 felony charges.
