Fatal Fork Lift Accident

Versatile Processing Facility

Wednesday November 21, 2018, @ 5:29 PM Jefferson County Sheriff Officers Sergeant Troy Hawkins and Deputy Zack Nicholson responded to Versatile Processing Facility, on Marble Hill Road, reference a work place accident.

The 911 caller reported a fork lift accident at the facility and stated the employee was pinned under the fork lift.  Upon arrival, officers found the fork lift operator, identified as Charles Bryce Gatliff 19, Madison, Indiana, deceased.  It appears the machine flipped over onto Gatliff as he attempted to make a left turn within the facility.

The investigation is being led by Sergeant Troy Hawkins, OSHA, and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.  The Hanover Fire Department and KDH-EMS responded to the scene as well.
