Male Homicide Victim Found Downtown Madison

August 25, 2021, @ approximately 4:45 PM Madison Police responded to a residence in the 700 block of Walnut Street reference a man laying in the backyard.  Upon arrival, responding officers found the male to be deceased.

Detectives, along with Jefferson County Coroner Rodney Nay were summoned to the scene.  Upon further investigation, it was apparent the adult male was the victim of a homicide.   The victim has been identified, however his identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  

Madison Police Detectives Ricky Harris and Shawn Scudder are leading this investigation.  Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technician Merit Toomey processed the scene.  

The Madison Police Department does not believe this was a random act of violence, and has no reason to believe that other citizens are in harms way.
