Traffic Stops Lands 5 Women In Jail For Drugs

June 28, 2022, Madison Police arrest five on drug related charges.   At approximately 11:54 AM Patrolman Cameron Blankenship executed a traffic stop on Laner Drive near Duffy Lane for a traffic violation.  Occupants in the vehicle were identified as Tamara S. (Jones) Voris 48, Madison, Indiana, Chandra Scudder 60, Vevay, Indiana, and Kathy M. Rook (driver) 54, Vevay, Indiana.  

Madison Police K-9 Officer Trent Smith, along with his partner "Colt", assisted with the stop.  "Colt" conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle and gave his handler a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.  During the probable cause search of the vehicle, officers located methamphetamine and paraphernalia associated with the use of narcotics.  Voris, Scudder and Rook were taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.  Each faces L-5 possession of methamphetamine and class A misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia charges.  

The traffic stop led to obtaining a search warrant for Tamara (Jones) Voris' Green Road residence.  During the search of the residence, officers located methamphetamine and a significant amount of paraphanailia associated with the use of drugs.

Present when the search warrant was served, was Jodi L. Tipton 51, Madison, Indiana, and Jacqeline K. Jones 38, Madison, Indiana.  It was established that Tipon and Jones were also occupants of the Green Road residence, both were taken into custody.  

Tipton and Jones face preliminary alleged charges of L-5 felony possession of methamphetamine, along with L-6 felony for maintaining a common nuisance.  The charges are enhanced due to being within 500 feet of the Sports Complex.  Madison Police Officer's Dan Slygh, Chad Wehner, and Kyle Lane assisted with the investigation.  

Tamara (Jones) Voris, Chandra Scudder, Kathy Rook, Jodi Tipton, & Jacqeline Jones have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  The investigation is ongoing with additional charges likely
