BOYS BASKETBALL FROM TUESDAY NIGHT

SHAWE DEFEATED CHRISTIAN ACADEMY OF MADISON IN OVERTIME 47-43

The Hilltoppers pulled a close win out at home tonight vs CAM.   The Hilltoppers struggled to get their offense going only leading 20-17 at the half.    The two teams kept battling but the Hilltoppers started to pull away leading by 9 going into the 4th period.

CAM continued to battled and the Hilltoppers missed some FT’s to let them back on the game.     “Coach Carter does a nice job and they have some size that bothered us,” said Coach Dan Hambrick.   The Toppers were down two with 8 seconds to go in the 4th and Shawe got the rebound and Kahn stepped up driving the ball the length of the floor and hitting a floater with 1 second on the clock s ending the game into OT.

“Braiden Smith exploded tonight for a career high with 28 points.    He hit 4 triples in the first quarter and found ways to score all night,“ added  Hambrick.  Philip Kahn added 12 for the Toppers.    “We will be tough to guard when we get Smith and Kahn going on the same night,” said Hambrick.

“We had some guys make some big plays,  Hertz hit two big Free throws, and all our guys battled on the boards to keep us ahead.   We struggled from the line but we can fix that.     I am proud of them.   It wasn’t pretty but we found a way to win, said Hambrick.
