US 421 closed for nearly two hours
One person died a house fire in Ripley County about 9 1/2 miles south of Versailles early this morning.
The fire broke out around 4:40 a.m. in Rexville, in the 8300 block of South U.S. 421.
The structure was a total loss.
The fire remains under investigation.
Responding to the scene: New Marion Volunteer Fire Department, Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, Versailles Fire Rescue, Rescue 69, Osgood Volunteer Fire Department, Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department and Ripley Co. Sheriff Department.
US 421 north and south lanes were closed for nearly two hours due to the fire.
