(Aurora, Ind.) – Charges have been filed against Robert Lee Marksberry, 64, after allegedly shooting and killing his nephew, Nicholas Woodruff, 19 last week.
Marksberry has been charged with one count of Murder following the May 28 incident.
It is reported that Marksberry was at the home of his half-brother on West Conwell Street, where after several hours he decided to leave. They were talking outside when police say Woodruff hopped into the bed of Marksberry’s truck and picked up a chainsaw or a trimmer.
According to Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens, Marksberry then stated, “don’t think you’re going to be stealing my stuff. I’ll shoot you.”
Woodruff then got out of the truck bed and punched Marksberry in the face. That is when Marksberry shot Woodruff and drove off.
Investigators tracked Marksberry down at his friend’s home in Switzerland County.
Police said Marksberry had purchased the gun and two bullets from a family member in Aurora earlier that day.
