(Jefferson County, Ind.) - In their meeting last Thursday, the Jefferson County Commissioners agreed to contribute $15,000 to Heritage Trail Conservancy.

This contribution from the commissioners will help the organization purchase the final pieces of property to develop the 23-acre park that will run along the river downtown.

Bob Green, who has been overlooking the project since the start stated that if the organization did not come up with the full amount to purchase the  land by December 17, stated that this land was the "heart of the park, and will be used as a community green space."

The park will complement Heritage Trail which stretches from Madison's Hilltop down to the river.

The park is estimated to cost around $185,000 but the organization is looking to raise $200,000 dollars for a little "wiggle room."

"We want the park to be a playground and platform for all walks of life, where children can explore their world and we want the world to have it and love it 100 years from now," said Green.
