INDIANA LAUNCHES GRANT PROGRAM TO ADDRESS HEALTH ISSUES

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health is seeking applications for the Indiana Health Issues and Challenges Grant, a $50 million program established by the Indiana General Assembly last year to address health issues that impact Indiana.

HEA 1007 charges the Indiana Department of Health, in collaboration with the Family and Social Services Administration, with developing and administering a grant program to prevent or reduce the prevalence of mental and physical health issues for Hoosiers. The areas of focus include mental and behavioral health, tobacco use, food insecurity, obesity, lead exposure, hepatitis C and chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma and cancer.

Local and statewide service providers are invited to apply for the competitive grants, which are supported through the American Rescue Plan Act. Applications are due by March 31, 2022, and award notices will be issued by July 1, 2022.
