The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police
On Monday November 1, 2021 Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a 911 call in reference to an accident on Lake Jericho Road in the community of Smithfield at approximately 4:42 pm. Troopers from Post 5 responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a dump truck driven by Ronnell Board, a 30 year old male of Louisville Kentucky, was traveling south on highway 153 when for an unknown reason the vehicle dropped off the right side of the roadway. When Mr. Board came back onto the roadway he crossed the center line at which time he struck a Cadillac SUV that was traveling in the opposite direction. The SUV was driven by Robert Calvert, a 26 year old male of Bedford Kentucky. The dump truck overturned on the driver side of the vehicle partially on the roadway losing its load of asphalt.
Mr. Board was transported to the hospital by ambulance for his injuries. Mr. Board did not have any passengers in his vehicle. The SUV had three(3) juvenile passengers who were transported to the hospital by ambulance for their injuries.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 was assisted on scene by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Henry County EMS, Lake Jericho Fire Department, Henry County Sheriff Department, and Campbellsburg Fire Department.
The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 5 Troopers.
