Madison Police Arrest Carrollton Man for Attempted Murder

65-Year Old Victim Flown to Louisville

August 16, 2023, @ approximately 3:36 PM Madison Police responded to a reported disturbance at 317 E. First Street.  Upon arrival, officers found the homeowner, a sixty-five (65) year old male, with approximately eleven (11) stab wounds to the upper torso of his body. 

Captain Ben McKay, Patrolman (K-9) Trent Smith and Patrolman Cody Lewis, responding officers, were able to establish a suspect, as NKDH-EMS administered aide.  The victim was transported to NKDH-ER, where he was stat flown to a Louisville, Kentucky hospital.   

With information obtained, lead Detective Kyle Cutshaw was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Jaylen M. Green 27, Carrollton, Kentucky.  The investigation revealed that Green is the estranged nephew of the victim, who reportedly came to the victim’s house on August 15, 2023, asking to spend the night.  For unknown reasons, Green allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times, while the victim was asleep. 

At approximately 7:00 PM Kentucky State Police located Jaylen Green walking in the 5800 block of Highway #421 in Trimble County, Kentucky.  Green was taken into custody by KSP, without incident, on the previously entered Indiana warrant. 

Jaylen Green was transported the Oldham County, Kentucky, Jail where he remains incarcerated pending extradition back to Indiana. 

Jaylen M. Green faces preliminary alleged charges of - ATTEMPTED MURDER LEVEL 1 FELONY, AGGRAVATED BATTERY LEVEL 3 FELONY, & BATTERY LEVEL 5 FELONY.  Green has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty. 

An Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technician processed the crime scene.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.
