Madison Police Department announces Successful School Zone Safe Enforcement Operation

The blitz took place during place during a two week period in April

                                 

Madison, Indiana - The Madison Police Department recently conducted a successful School Zone Safe Enforcement Operation lasting from April 17th to April 28th, aimed at promoting the safety of students, parents, and school staff in and around school premises.

 Officers from the Madison Police Department were strategically deployed in school zones and surrounding areas to monitor drivers' behaviors, such as speeding, distracted driving, and failure to stop for school buses. The operation was designed to promote the safe transportation of students while they travel to and from school.

 Thanks to the department’s efforts, the operation resulted in a significant decrease in traffic violations.  The operation highlights include three drug related arrests, one operating while intoxicated, 42 traffic warnings and 21 traffic citations.

 “We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of each student, teacher, and parent navigating our roads, especially those in school zones. This operation serves as a strong reminder for drivers to be vigilant, responsible, and put the safety of our children first,” said Madison Police Chief John Wallace.

 The Madison Police Department would like to extend their appreciation to the public, the Madison Consolidated Schools, Shawe Memorial High School/Jr High, Pope John Elementary School,The Madison Christian Academy  and all those who participated in the operation, contributing to its success
