They will host an open house this Friday
MADISON, Indiana – Norton Healthcare is expanding surgical services in Southern Indiana with the addition of a da Vinci Xi Surgical System at Norton King’s Daughters’ Health in Madison.
To introduce robotic-assisted surgery, Norton King’s Daughters’ Health will host a community open house from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 11, in Oak Room 1 of the Norton King’s Daughters’ Health Conference Center, located on the basement level of the hospital, 1373 E. State Road 62.
“We are excited to expand our minimally invasive technology by adding robotic-assisted surgery,” said Carol M. Dozier, chief executive officer for Norton King’s Daughters’ Health. “Providing our patients access to advanced surgical tools offers peace of mind and the best possible outcomes.”
Using the da Vinci system, surgeons use their hands to control surgical instruments and a camera that magnifies the surgical area 10 times greater than what the human eye sees. Tiny instruments move like a human hand but with a greater range of motion to perform intricate operations.
This minimally invasive tool benefits patients by potentially reducing pain, blood loss, risk for infection or complications, and scarring, and can shorten hospital stays, thereby helping patients make a quicker return to normal activities.
Robotic-assisted technology at Norton King’s Daughters’ Health will be used for general and weight loss surgeries. In the future, additional types of surgery will be available, such as gynecologic and urologic procedures.
