(Jefferson County, Ind.) – Beginning Wednesday, June 3, maintenance crews with the Indiana Department of Transportation will be closing State Road 256 just west of State Road 3 at County Road 1525 W.
The road will remain closed until Friday, June 5 weather permitting.
County Roads 1525 W. and 575 E. are expected to remain open, with possible short term closures as needed for moving equipment in the area.
State Road 56 will be used as an alternate route while work is in progress.
State Road 256 remains closed further west between State Road 203 and U.S. 31 in Austin as part of a $17.6 million reconstruction project, INDOT is expecting the road to reopen in the fall.
Drivers are reminded to use extra caution, slow down, and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
