(Hanover, Ind.) - Southwestern High School Basketball is teaming up with the National Association of Basketball Coaches and The American Cancer Society in joining the fight against cancer.

Next week during suits and sneakers week, a nation-wide event, the team will be hosting their coaches vs. cancer event.

They are hoping the event will bring cancer awareness to the community and unite them as one in the fight for the cure.

The girls’ basketball game on January 21 and the boys’ basketball game on January 24 will be the two games designated to help fight for a cure.

During both games, Southwestern players and cheerleaders will honor player Ashton Goodes’ uncle, Jacob Goode, who is currently battling colon cancer.

The teams along with members of the crowd will be wearing special t-shirts, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Goode family.

During the game, a 50/50 raffle along with any donations collected will be split evenly and given to both the family and The American Cancer Society for research of colon cancer, and colon cancer prevention.
