The City of Madison Opens Additional PACE Grant Program Deadline

The new amendments to allow the city to provide grants up to $25,000.00 for eligible projects.

(Madison, Ind.) – During the city council meeting on Tuesday, April 21, the City of Madison’s City Council approved amendments to the Preservation and Community Enhancement (PACE) grant program ordinance.

The new amendments to allow the city to provide grants up to $25,000.00 for eligible projects. In addition to these ordinance amendments, the City of Madison has been working on changes to the guidelines and scoring system.

Since the PACE ordinance amendments were approved after the initial deadline for the second quarter funding meeting, the City of Madison will begin accepting applications for additional programs.

These programs are the Dilapidated Structures Grant and the Dangerous Buildings Grant, or for projects located within the PACE Program Target Areas Immediately.

“This additional deadline will ensure projects waiting for this amendment to pass city council have the opportunity to apply for funding during the current round instead of having to wait until the next round of funding opens for applications,” said Nicole M Schell, City Planner – Preservation Coordinator.

The deadline for the new applications which fall within the PACE Program Target Areas or those applying for the new programs will be May 4 by 4:00 p.m., the city will also be waving the requirement to meet with the city planner/ preservation coordinator prior to submitting the application.

“These enhancements to the PACE Program emphasize the importance of clean safe and beautiful neighborhoods. This program will eliminate blight, restore and preserve historic properties, create economic stimulus, and make our neighborhoods safer while using oversight infrastructure and guidelines already in place. I’m grateful for the partnership with the Madison Redevelopment Commission and Jefferson County Commissioners that will contribute to the funding of this initiative.” said Mayor Bob Courtney.
