90% of this project is funded by an FAA Federal grant
The Madison Municipal Airport Wildlife Fence Project began Monday, January 6, 2020.
This $1.2 million dollar project will add wildlife fencing around the entire perimeter of the airport operations area.
This will be a 10' tall chain-link fence with predator skirting which will extend into the ground approximately 15".
This fence serves as a wildlife deterrent as well as an added security measure for the airport operations area.
This area is abundant with wildlife such as deer and coyote, all of which pose a hazard to aircraft operating at the Madison Municipal Airport.
Near the terminal building, we will be adding a larger entry gate (24' rather than 14' width), a new gate controller, and will change the layout of our walkthrough pedestrian gate for security purposes.
The Scope of Work is approximately 3-4 months and fencing should start going up in the next few weeks.
90% of this project is funded by an FAA Federal grant awarded to us in September 2019, INDOT funds 5%, and the Madison Municipal Airport pays 5%. We are happy to say we can cover that cost out of pocket!
