Property stolen from the vehicle was recovered

July 14, 2021, @ approximately 8:59 PM Madison Police Patrolmen Josh Nolan and Curtis Shelpman arrested Alexander N. Barnes 29, Madison, Indiana. Barnes was charged with Theft class A misdemeanor, unlawful entry into a vehicle class B misdemeanor, and residential entry level 6 felony.
Officers responded to a report of theft from a vehicle in the 600 block of W. Main Street. After obtaining a description of the suspect, investigating Officers Nolan and Shelpman located Barnes in the basement of a residence in the 700 block of W. Main Street. Barnes did not live at the address in which he was located, resulting in the residential entry charge. The property stolen from the vehicle was recovered by officers.
Alexander N. Barnes has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
