Hamilton Co. Sheriff confirms bomb threat caused evacuation of Rascal Flatts concert

Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center

Police in Hamilton County have confirmed a bomb threat caused the evacuation of a concert last week.

Investigators with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office say the threat, made during the Rascal Flatts concert at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center August 9, was deemed credible. Confused fans exited the venue before the band could perform an encore, which led to outrage on social media.

The sheriff's department would not release how the threat was made or reported, along with other information that are "integral to the current open investigation."

"Once the concern was made known, venue, security, and law enforcement personnel took planned and appropriate action for the safety of concert guests and the artists," the department said in a release.

Last week, the department only said the evacuation was due to a "safety issue." The band tweeted the day after the concert about the "security concern" that led to the early conclusion of their show.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff's department's Investigations Division at 317-776-9887.
