Attempted Traffic Stop Leads to High Speed Pursuit

(Jennings County, Ind.) – On May 10, Jennings County Sheriff’s Office Canine Sergeant Cody Low attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Blue Kia Rio for a traffic violation on Whittington Drive in Country Squire Lakes.

The driver of the vehicle then fled from Sergeant Low leading deputies on a pursuit with speeds exceeding 70 mph.

David E. Turner, 40, of North Vernon, then turned into a residence on Stoningham Way where his vehicle then became disabled. Turner then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, Sgt. Low was then able to apprehend Turner in a nearby creek.

During Turner’s arrest, prescription pills, and Methamphetamine were located on his person, it was also found that Turner was wanted on an active arrest warrant through Jennings County.

Turner was arrested on the charges of Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A Misdemeanor), Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor), Legend Drug Violation (Level 6 Felony).

Turner's arrest warrant held the charges of Theft (Level 6 Felony), and Criminal Trespass (Class A Misdemeanor).
