Attorney General Cameron Announces Latest Pharmaceutical Settlement

This is Attorney General Cameron’s latest victory against Teva.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 15, 2023) – Attorney General Daniel Cameron today announced a $1.4 million settlement with Teva Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Teva). The settlement resolves allegations that Teva conspired to fix the prices of dozens of drugs over several years.

“Manipulating drug prices to take advantage of vulnerable Kentuckians is an alarming breach of public trust,” said Attorney General Cameron. “This settlement holds Teva accountable for their actions and helps provide open and fair competition for critical prescription drugs.”

The Commonwealth of Kentucky sued Teva for Consumer Protection Act violations, unjust enrichment, and antitrust violations in connection with alleged collusion and price fixing. As part of the settlement, Kentuckians will receive $1,407,000 via lump sum payment. In addition, Teva has agreed to train relevant U.S. employees on conduct prohibited by state and federal antitrust laws.

This is Attorney General Cameron’s latest victory against Teva.

Today’s settlement follows Attorney General Cameron’s December agreement with Teva and Allergan for their roles in fueling the opioid crisis by marketing, promoting, selling, and distributing opioids. That settlement totaled more than $114 million.
