(Batesville, Ind.) – The Batesville McDonald’s will close on Sunday ahead of a complete rebuild.

Spokesperson Missy Cooper tells Eagle Country 99.3 that the fast-food restaurant at 320 Cross Country Road, just off Interstate 74, will officially shut down at 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

Once the doors are closed, work will start to strip the inside of the building. Cooper says everything that can be donated will be donated from outdoor patio furniture to baby changing tables to table trays. One specific item, an ice chest, will be donated to Batesville Schools for the athletic department.

"We want as few things to go to landfill as possible," said Cooper.

All of the food and condiments from the Batesville location will not go to waste. Those items will be taken to the Greendale location.

Some employees will also move to the Greendale location temporarily while construction takes place. Employees were given the option to move to another location or receive unemployment. High school students are not expected to make the temporary move but will have their jobs waiting for them when the new Batesville store front is completed.

"Prioritizing our people is our top priority," said Cooper.

The total rebuild is expected to take 120 days, although that number is subject to change due to supply chain issues and weather.

When completed, the Batesville McDonald's will feature a double drive thru and other modern amenities found at other McDonald's locations nationwide.

According to Cooper, the rebuild project is five years in the making.
