Jennifer McCormick was unopposed in the Democratic primary.
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s next Governor will be either Mike Bruan or Jennifer McCormick.
Mike Braun won Tuesday’s GOP primary over five other Republican candidates, receiving 236,641 votes (40%).
Braun beat out current Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Brad Chambers, Eric Doden, Curtis Hill and Jamie Reitenour to earn a spot on the November ballot.
He will go up against former state superintendent of public instruction Jennifer McCormick, who ran unopposed in the Democratic gubernatorial primary.
Braun currently serves as a U.S. Senator. He was elected in 2018.
McCormick was elected as the state’s 44th Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2016. She seeks to become the first Democrat to hold the governor’s office since Joe Kernan did from 2003 to 2005.
Current Governor Eric Holcomb is term limited and cannot seek re-election for a third consecutive term.
