Bridge deck overlays planned on I-65 in Scott and Jackson Counties

Nightly lane closures thru the weekend

Scott and Jackson County, Ind.—Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. plans to begin work next week in preparation of two bridge deck overlay projects that include structures on I-65 in Scott and Jackson Counties. Drivers can expect lane closures, speed reductions, and width restrictions while work is in progress.

Lane closures will be nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday thru Saturday, weather permitting at the following locations:

  • Between MM 34 (Austin) and MM 36 (Austin/Crothersville) at the Muscatatuck River bridge
  • Between MM 41 (Uniontown) and MM 49 (near Seymour) at the Mutton Creek bridge

Preliminary work will include shoulder strengthening and lane crossovers for future phases of construction. All preliminary work is expected to be complete by June. The bridge deck overlays are anticipated to begin at the beginning of July.

The contract was awarded to E&B Paving, Inc. in March for $14 million. INDOT encourages drivers to consider worker safety by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones.
