This policy will go into effect immediately
Carroll County Schools has announced a new policy requiring students below ninth grade cannot attend athletic events without adult supervision. The policy will go into effect immediately. The new regulation is designed to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all students, families, and community members attending games.
According to CCHS officials, students below ninth grade must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to enter any Carroll County High School athletic event. Students without a parent or guardian will not be admitted. Adults other than the student’s legal parent or guardian can accompany them to the events.
In addition, all high school students must present their Carroll County school-issued student ID to be admitted to the game. All Carroll County students who show their school ID will also receive free admission to home games, a step school leaders hope will encourage students to carry their ID and support their peers.
Plans are underway for students to scan their ID card at the gate to streamline entry.
“In light of recent events at games in Kentucky and across the nation, we are trying to be proactive in our approach to safety and security for all of our visitors and our community. This new process should help with supervision and crowd control at our events,” said Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes.
The district clarified that younger students will not be required to remain seated with their parent or guardian throughout the entire game. Students may still enjoy time with their friends, but they are expected to remain in designated areas. Secure spaces where younger students typically play at the football field will be clearly identified as safe play areas.
“These steps are being taken to keep our students safe and to create an environment where families can enjoy the game,” said CCHS Principal Crystal Harris. “We want students to have fun cheering on their teams, but we also need to make sure supervision and accountability are in place.”
Any student who arrives without a guardian and cannot provide proof of being a Carroll County High School student will be required to call a parent or guardian to pick them up. They will not be admitted to the event.
The policy applies to all students, including those from other schools who may attend games. Visiting high school students will be expected to show a driver’s license or school-issued identification if there is any question about their grade level. Students from other counties will have to pay admission.
“This is not meant to overcomplicate the process,” CCHS Assistant Principal David Craig added. “We want to protect everyone while still giving kids the opportunity to enjoy the games in a safe environment.”
Carroll County Schools thanks families and the community for their cooperation in making athletic events a safe and positive experience for everyone.
