City of Carrollton To Invest In New Consolidated Utility System

The council will move onto the second reading of this ordinance on Monday, November 23.

(Carrollton, Ky.) – The Carrollton City council met in their first regular meeting of the month yesterday, one of the topics of discussion was a new ordinance to be put in by the city.

This ordinance is 2020-13, an ordinance of the City of Carrollton establishing the City of Carrollton combined and consolidated utility system.

This ordinance will allow the city to authorize and issue bonds, for Carrollton Utilities to be able to lay a new gas line that will service four major industries up the 42 corridor. The utility company will lay a new 12-inch line, in addition to the line that is already in use, to supply these industries with gas.

“We are in the gas business, we know what our industrial customers mean to us, and we cannot afford to not give them what they need to continue to operate today, and for future expansion,” said Carrollton Mayor Robb Adams.

This project is estimated to costs no more than $12 million to complete, the utility company has already applied for a $3 million grant from EDA to assist with the project.

The council will move onto the second reading of this ordinance on Monday, November 23.
