COMMUNITY FOUNDATION LAUNCHES MATCHING PROGRAM FOR 2025

Donations to new or existing permanent endowments will receive 25% matching opportunity

MADISON, IN – On Saturday, January 25, 2025, the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County (CFMJC) announced a donation matching program available for a limited time. The CFMJC Board of Directors has designated a pool of $250,000 to provide this matching opportunity.

Donations to new or existing permanent endowments at the Community Foundation will be matched by 25% until all the available matching funds are used. The maximum match a donor and/or household can receive is $25,000. Anyone wishing to take advantage of the matching program is encouraged to donate soon as previous matching opportunities have disappeared quickly.

“Donors really like utilizing matching money to increase the power of their donations,” said CFMJC President & CEO Bill Barnes. “Now is a great time to give to an existing permanent endowment or start a new one to make a positive impact on the causes and nonprofit organizations you care about.”

Established in 1991 by a group of local volunteers, the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County fulfills the mission of building a strong, vibrant community by helping donors provide perpetual funding for the people, projects, and passions of Jefferson County. Since the Foundation’s creation, more than 270 permanent funds have been established. This year, the Community Foundation is expected to award nearly $1.4 million in grants to nonprofits and scholarships to Jefferson County students from these permanent endowments.

Donations to the Community Foundation can be made in person, by mail, or online. When writing a check, please indicate the fund you are donating to in the memo line. Donations may be dropped off at the CFMJC office at 416 West Street, Suite B in downtown Madison, mailed to P.O. Box 306, Madison, IN 47250, or made online at https://www.cfmjc.org. Retirees 70 ½ and older can also give by making charitable contributions directly from their Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA). Donations from IRAs cannot be directed to Donor Advised Funds. Donations to non-permanent funds do not qualify for the matching opportunity. Donations to the Community Foundation can be made in person, by mail, or online.
