Convicted Felon Husband and Wife Arrested

Thursday December 16, 2021, Madison Police were dispatched to Lowe's reference suspicious activity.  After obtaining a description of the individual (s) involved, Officers canvassed the area and located the subject (s) in question at the Madison Wal-Mart. 

Upon approach, Officers identified one of the individuals in question as Cory W. Vessels 33, Milton, Ky.  With prior knowledge of an active warrant for his arrest, Officer's Shelpman and Flint approached Vessels.  As officers approached, they observed Vessels reach into the waistband of his pants, he was quickly detained.  A check of Vessels' waistband found him to be in possession of a .40 caliber handgun.  Vessels is a convicted felon. Also present was Megan M. Vessels, Cory's wife.  

Officer Flint and his K-9 partner "Meko '' conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle in which the Vessels' were previously seen.  "Meko '' gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.  During the subsequent search, officers located methamphetamine, paraphanailia associated with the use of narcotics, and another handgun in a purse belonging to Megan.  Megan Vessels is also a convicted felon.

Megan and Cory Vessels were taken into custody and charged with the following offenses;  Cory Vessels faces preliminary alleged charges of L-5 felon in possession of a firearm, L-6 possession of methamphetamine, C/M possession of paraphanailia, and the active Jefferson County warrant for failure to appear on a previous OWI charge.  

Megan Vessels faces preliminary alleged charges of L-5 felon in possession of a firearm, L-6 possession of methamphetamine and C/M possession of paraphanailia.  Both Megan and Cory Vessels have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Captain Season Jackson and Deputy James Webster assisted with the investigation.
