The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office had previously reported that they had 31 inmates in the Jefferson County Jail that had tested positive for COVID-19. on Thursday August 2nd. and Friday August 3rd. The State Board of Health provided testing to the inmate population. When the results were returned on Tuesday August 7th. Including the initial 31 positive tests, the jail facility has 55 total positive tests. The jail staff continues to follow department policies and procedures concerning COVID-19.
