Make sure you have working smoke detectors
Madison Township and Ryker’s Ridge Fire Departments responded to a structure fire in the 8200 block of West County Road 300-N early yesterday morning.
The structure, a older farm house, had no working smoke detectors.
The family dog woke the family of three adults and a small child, by barking until they got up.
The fire was contained to the attic, but the rest of the house sustained smoke and water damage.
It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the fire.
