Domestic Incident Lands Madison Man Behind Bars

The victim in the case was injured

                                                                           

On May 1, 2022, Madison Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of E. 5th Street, reference a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the male subject involved, identified as Alex Z. Gomez, 21, Madison, Indiana, had left the scene.  A search of the area was conducted, however Gomez was not located.

On May 4, 2021, @ approximately 12:41 PM, Madison Police Patrolman Jared Sweet located Gomez, after receiving a suspicious persons call on him.  Gomez initially gave Officer Sweet a bogus identity, however he was later identified as Gomez.  

Alex Gomez was taken into custody for the May 1, 2022, incident where he allegedly broke into the residence of an estranged acquaintance, and held that person against their will.  During the alleged incident, the victim received a laceration to their hand.  The hand injury was sustained from broken glass, in which Gomez reportedly broke while gaining entry into the residence. 

Madison Police Sergeant Seth Melton led the investigation, with the assistance of  Captain Rick Mundt and Patrolman Jared Sweet.  Alex Gomez faces preliminary alleged charges of - Burglary L-3 Felony ( hand injury enhances the charge ) Criminal Confinement L-6 Felony, Residential Entry L-6 Felony, False identifying Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia Class C Misdemeanor.  

All charges are alleged and Alex Gomez has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
