Drownings In Indiana Up From Last Year At Same Time

53 drowned in all of last year

The Department of Natural Resources is reminding all Hoosiers to wear life jackets while on the water.

The agency says there has been 34 drownings in public waterways in 2019, which exceeds the number seen at this time last year.

There were 53 drownings total in rivers, ponds, lakes, and reservoirs in 2018.

DNR officials say none of those who drowned were wearing life jackets.
