During a Team Kentucky update on Thursday in Frankfort, Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman spoke about the expanded opportunities available to Kentuckians who don’t have a high school diploma.

Beshear’s administration eliminated the fee to take the GED and since January 2020, more than 10,000 people have earned their credentials. New reports show more Kentuckians are taking advantage of the learning opportunities.

“Our investments in adult education are paying off,” Coleman said. “In September 2023, Kentucky surpassed the U.S. Department of Education goals for measurable skill gains to increase literacy, education, and training levels among the Commonwealth’s adults.“

Due to the increased demand, the number of GED testing sites in Kentucky has expanded to 171.
