Fatal Accident In Jennings Co.

Exited a moving vehicle

On Monday at approximately 7:57 p.m. Officers were sent to St. Vincent / Jennings Emergency Room in reference to an injured female who had been brought to the ER from the scene by a private vehicle for injuries sustained when she fell from a moving vehicle.

At 8:49 p.m. it was determined that the female had been injured on US 50, east of the round-about in Jennings County. Sheriff’s Deputies were then sent to the hospital to conduct the investigation due to the injury occurring in county jurisdiction.

The female was identified as Jennifer R. Russell (age 38) of North Vernon. Ms. Russell had already been transferred from St. Vincent / Jennings to St. Vincent – Indianapolis Hospital in by air ambulance due to the nature of her injuries.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that Ms. Russell had exited a moving vehicle being driven by Kenneth L. Poole (age 37) of Scipio, IN. After Ms. Russell had exited the vehicle, she landed on the pavement which appeared to cause significant life threatening injuries.

Jennifer Russell was later pronounced deceased in the early morning hours of April 17, 2018 at St. Vincent - Indianapolis. An autopsy was conducted by the Marion Co. Coroner’s Office on April 17, 2018. The results of the autopsy are pending at this time.
