Fire, Accident And Public Safety Kept Local Law Enforcement And Fire Crews Busy

Hanging Rock Hill was closed for a while on Monday due to a truck fire. Madison Fire crews responded just before 5pm.

On Sunday just before noon, Madison Fire Department responded to overturned truck on Michigan Hill. Hazmat 1 also responded reference fuel spill. Madison Fire Department and City of Street Department spent several hours cleaning the wreck up and helping with traffic control. The hill was closed till around 5pm.  Rescue 6 was dispatched for extrication but was disregarded after patient was safely removed from the truck.

Also on Saturday, Madison Fire Department assisted Madison Police, Jefferson Co. Sheriffs Department and Indiana State Police on the riverfront for medical support and removal of banners hanging from the bridge during the Honorable Sacred Knights of the KKK cook-out and rally at Jaycee Park on Vaughn Dr. near the Milton-Madison Bridge. Around 12 to 15 Klan members and over 200 protesters were on hand for the rally. Madison Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and the Indiana Conservation office officers were there to ensure public safety as those involved exercised their free speech rights loudly but peacefully.
