 
                            Unattended candle began the fire in a classroom
Fire units responded to a report of a structure fire around 9 Wednesday morning at the Living Waters Mennonite Church and School on Jones Road and South CR 850 in Chelsea.
When Hanover Fire Department arrived on location heavy smoke was coming from the up stair part of the building.
First interior crew in the structure found heavy smoke in the upper classroom of the building. Fire crew made it up to the top level of the structure and found a small fire on the top of the teachers desk. The fire started from a lite candle. The fire was small and contained to the desk.
Chief Meredith wants remind everyone that it’s best not to leave an open flame candle lit and unattended. Let’s also remember our smoke detectors. The smoke detectors alerted the school there was a problem. The building was evacuated during the fire and all the kids went to the safe location on grounds until the building was returned back to the school.
Hanover Fire Department was joined on the scene with the Kent Fire Company.
