(Jefferson County, Ind.) – With temperatures expected to fall into the 29 to 32-degree range late this evening, into early Wednesday morning the National Weather Service out of Louisville has issued a freeze warning until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Freeze conditions will kill sensitive vegetation, with wind chills being in the lower and mid-20s on Wednesday.
Areas affected are Jefferson, Scott, Trimble, Orange, Washington, Dubois, Crawford, Perry, Harrison, Clark, and Floyd County.
Residents are advised to take steps to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
