Gov. Holcomb Extends Indiana's Mask Mandate

Hoosiers are strongly encouraged to continue their best to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The mask mandate in Indiana has been extended once again.

During last night’s media briefing, Governor Eric Holcomb made the announcement that the mask mandate will remain in effect through November 14.

Under the mandate, Hoosiers are required to wear face coverings at indoor public spaces, outdoor public spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained, and while using public transportation.

Governor Holcomb stated that even though the mask mandate is being extended, Indiana will remain at Stage 5 of his Back on Track plan.

Hoosiers are strongly encouraged to continue their best to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Stage 5 is not the stage where the checkered flag comes out,” said Holcomb. “Stage 5 is not an excuse for indifference or irresponsibility, its just the opposite.”

In total for the year, there have been 139,269 positive COVID-19 cases and 3,609 deaths reported in the Hoosier state.

Locally, Jefferson County metrics increased from .5 to 1.5, putting the county in the yellow category which means moderate community spread.

Jefferson County is currently at 314 cases with 4 deaths.

As for surrounding counties:

  • Scott: 482 cases, 12 deaths
  • Jennings: 345 cases, 13 deaths
