Will Seek Re-Election as Governor of Indiana

Governor Eric Holcomb today announced that he is running for re-election to serve Hoosiers as their governor for another four years. His remarks focused on how the Holcomb-Crouch administration is Putting People First.

"I’m Indiana proud – in part because of our heritage and the progress we've made together over this last decade-plus," said Governor Eric Holcomb. "And that’s why I’m running for re-election."

Governor Holcomb made the announcement in front of a packed house at the historic Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, which was used as the home court of the Hickory Huskers in the 1986 film "Hoosiers." He was surrounded by supporters from all of Indiana's 92 counties and every corner of Indiana.

"I know together we’re going to wage that different kind of campaign," said Governor Holcomb. "One that shares the good news. One that addresses our challenges head-on. One that connects Hoosiers of all walks of life with the resources and skills they need to succeed."

Governor Holcomb was elected as Indiana's governor in 2016 following an historic 106-day campaign. Since taking office in 2017, Governor Holcomb has led with people-focused policies that include record road investment, record job commitments with record wages, more than $1 billion in additional funding for K-12 education, expanded workforce training opportunities and expanded treatment for Hoosiers recovering from drug addiction. Under Governor Holcomb's leadership, these results are available to all Hoosiers in every part of the state.

Governor Holcomb's announcement today follows news earlier this week that he closed the first fundraising period of 2019 in a record financial position. His campaign had more than $6 million ($6.03 million) in the bank at the end of June, which is more than any previous Indiana governor's cash-on-hand at the midpoint of their third year in office.

"It’s because of our team - all of you - that we’ve exceeded high expectations. And we've done it the right way - the Indiana way - by putting people first," said Governor Holcomb. "From the economy, to job creation, to infrastructure, to public health, to education – you name it. We’re making a positive difference in the lives of Hoosiers all over our great state."
