May 5, 2022, Madison Police responded to the Super 8 Hotel on Demaree Drive, reference a welfare check on a patron. After speaking with management, officers made contact with occupant Rachel M. Giguere 38, Hanover, Indiana.
The subsequent investigation found Giguere to be in possession of narcotics, as officers attempted to take Giguere into custody for the drug possession, she resisted. Giguere's resistance continued while in transport to the Jefferson County Jail, which resulted in additional charges being filed.
Rachel M. Giguere faces preliminary alleged charges of; possession of heroin L-6 felony, battery on a law enforcement officer L-6 felony, possession of a hypodermic syringe L-6 felony, resisting law enforcement class A misdemeanor, possession of marijuana class B misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct class B misdemeanor.
Patrolman Jared Sweet led the investigation with the assistance of Sergeant Seth Melton. All charges are alleged and Giguere has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
