More than 60 fire departments statewide received over $284,000 in grants.
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Fire departments in Hanover and Vevay are getting grant money.
The Indiana DNR announced Tuesday that 64 fire departments statewide have been awarded more than $284,000 in DNR Volunteer Fire Assistance grants.
Among the grant recipients were Hanover VFD and Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue in Switzerland County.
Hanover VFD received $5,000 for safety equipment and Jeff-Craig Fire received $5,000 to combat wildland fires.
DNR Forestry staff reviewed grant applications and selected recipients on the basis of population density, acres of public wildlands protected, and wildland fire reporting to DNR Fire Control Headquarters.
