1-800-QUIT-NOW

MADISON, Ind. – Now until June 30, 2018, the Indiana Tobacco Quitline is offering free nicotine gum and patches to any Indiana resident who enrolls in services, while supplies last. The Indiana Tobacco Quitline is a free, confidential phone-based cessation service available to all Hoosiers ages 13 and older.

In addition to the phone-based program, the Quitline also offers Web and text message programs to be used in conjunction with the phone service. In 2016 the Quitline received nearly 12,000 calls and 93 percent of those callers would recommend the program to other tobacco users.

In most cases nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) such as gum and patches are helpful for those who are trying to quit. The Quitline can provide additional information and guidance for use of these products as well as other cessation aids.

Those who are interested in quitting can call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) to get started. Callers will first speak with an intake specialist and will then be connected with a Quit Coach who help tobacco users set a quit date and create a personalized quit plan. Kentucky users can also call 1-800-QUIT-NOW for the Kentucky Quitline, which offers similar services.

For additional information about the Quitline or local tobacco control efforts, contact Natalie Garrett, Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coordinator for Jefferson County at 812-801-0598.
