Jennings Co. Sheriff's Deputy Who Just Graduated From The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Makes Three Arrests

Stolen ATV and drug arrest

On Tuesday at approximately 7:00 p.m. Deputies Doug Brown and Sgt. Allen Ritchie of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the area of Foxmoor Dr. in Country Squire Lakes in regards to a tip of a stolen ATV. The Sheriff’s Office had taken a report earlier in the day of an ATV that had been stolen from an address on County Road 300 N. in Geneva Township. When Deputies Brown and Ritchie arrived in the area they located an ATV on Greenwood place that matched the description of the stolen ATV being driven by a male subject who was later identified as Joshua Chance, age 37, of North Vernon. During the investigation, the deputies noticed the VIN number had been ground off. Deputies took Joshua into custody for possession of stolen property.

Deputies Brown and Ritchie then went to Joshua’s home to speak with occupants at the residence. While Deputies were at his residence, they noticed other item’s that matched the description of another Burglary that was reported a few days earlier from the Scipio area. Deputies located a power washer, several power tools, wagon and gardening tools that were stolen from another reported burglary also in the Scipio area.

Joshua was booked in to the Jennings County Jail on Charges of ; Burglary - LeveL 2 Felony and Possession of Stolen Property - Level 6 Felony

Then on Wednesday at approximately 12:00 a.m. Deputies Brown and Sgt. Ritchie with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, assisted Holton Town Marshal on a traffic stop on Highway 50 E. in Butlerville. They requested the assistance of our K9 unit. Once on scene, K9 Vampir conducted an outer area sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert on the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Deputies located approximately 20 grams of Marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Justin Craft, and the passenger, Jason Farris, were arrested for Possession of Marijuana A - Misdemeanor.

Jason Farris, age 36, of North Vernon is being held at the Jennings County Jail on a $1,755.00 bond. Jason Farris was currently out on bond on a prior drug related charge.
Justin Craft, age 35, of North Vernon is being held at the Jennings County Sheriff Jail on a $905.00 bond
