Attempt to harm himself

On July 19, 2019, at approximately 7:00 PM, a Jennings County Jail inmate was transported from the Jennings County Jail to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital and subsequently transferred to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of self-inflicted injuries.

The injuries were sustained when the male inmate (age 30), jumped from the second level in an apparent attempt to harm himself.

During the preliminary investigation, video evidence shows the man jumping from the second story level falling to the ground level. Other inmates immediately went to his aid while jail staff responded. Additional evidence obtained during the investigation indicates that the male was suffering from an emotional/psychological issue.

The male subject will not be identified pending notification of family members.
