The Jennings County Sheriff's Office is concerned by the recent spike in fentanyl and heroin overdoses and deaths in our community.
With the recent surge in fentanyl and heroin overdoses, timely administration of Narcan, a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, can mean the difference between life and death. Sheriff Freeman emphasizes the need for community members to recognize the signs of overdose and promptly seek help by calling 911.
"Our community is facing a concerning increase in overdoses, particularly related to fentanyl and heroin," stated Sheriff Freeman. "In these situations, immediate intervention is crucial. If you suspect an overdose, don't hesitate to call for help. Narcan can save lives, but it needs to be administered swiftly."
The Sheriff's Office encourages residents to familiarize themselves with the symptoms of overdose and to have Narcan readily available, especially if they or someone they know is at risk of opioid overdose.
