June Indiana Employment Report

June employment data for local counties will be available Monday, July 20, at noon.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Indiana’s June unemployment rates were released today by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD).

According to DWD, the state’s jobless rate stands at 11.2 percent for the month of June. The national jobless rate is 11.1 percent.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics uses the monthly unemployment rates as an indicator that reflects the number of unemployed people seeking employment within the prior four weeks as a percentage of the labor force.

Indiana’s labor force saw a net increase of 53,484 last month. This was a result of a decrease of 28,747 unemployed residents and an increase of 82,231 employed residents.

In total, the state’s labor force stands at 3.39 million in Indiana’s 64.3 percent labor force participation rate remains above the national rate of 61.5 percent.
