Kentucky State Police Conduct Death Investigation

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (05/09/2022) – On Monday May 9, 2022 at approximately 11:29 a.m. a family member arrived at Kentucky State Police Post 5 and reported Thomas Korfhage III missing.  Troopers immediately began the missing person investigation at which time he was entered as missing.

A short time later troopers received information pertaining to the possible location of Mr. Korfhage's vehicle.  Acting on this information troopers were able to locate the vehicle at the Interstate 71 rest area near the 12 mile marker.  A male was located alone in the vehicle. The Oldham County Coroner and Oldham County EMS responded to the scene.

The Oldham County Coroner pronounced the male deceased on scene.  Preliminary investigation does not indicate foul play.  The male was identified as Thomas Korfhage III of Trimble County.  Next of kin has been notified. 

Kentucky State Police Post 5 is conducting this ongoing investigation.  Kentucky State Police was also assisted on scene by The Oldham County Sheriff's Office.
